The captain of the Indian women’s cricket team is revered as the nation’s greatest batswoman, and has achieved numerous records and honour on the 22 yards. However, Raj is now 37, and that day is soon approaching when she will have to hang her boots up from the sport. On Monday, Mithali Raj was present in an episode of ESPNcricinfo’s Videocast, hosted by none other than former Indian Men’s cricket team player Sanjay Manjrekar.From speaking about her childhood and her parents’ contribution behind her success to rising up in her career in the sport, Raj spoke about her current focus on the One Day International formats, since her retirement from T20 cricket back in September 2019.Advertisement The Women in Blue skipper revealed that the 2021 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is now her bullseye, where she is looking to lift the trophy before bidding goodbye from the 50 overs format.“I am looking forward to 2021 World Cup. Want to try one last time to bring the World Cup trophy to India in 2021,” Raj said in the video session.Advertisement Previously having captained the Indian squad in the 2005 and 2017 world cups, in both tournaments where she lost the final, the upcoming tournament next year in New Zealand is Raj’s motivation, to bring India their maiden Women’s World cup.“I need to keep myself motivated for 2021.
