Arnett head to Haiti for CFU Club Championship semi-finals

first_imgArnett Gardens FC will depart the island this morning at 11’o clock for a semi-final showdown against W Connection of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship in Haiti. In the other semi-final clash, Don Bosco will square off against Central FC. The top three teams in the CFU tournament will qualify for the 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions’ Cup. The semi-final winners will meet in the final, while the losers will be engaged in a third place-off to decide the other qualifier for the CONCACAF stage. Renae Lloyd, who was injured early in the team’s second leg Red Stripe Premier League semi-final, will not make the trip. They lost the two-way tie 4-3 to Montego Bay United FC and were dethroned of the local title. “This is the final round in the CFU. We have two chances to advance to the CONCACAF stage, but we will be trying our best to win the Caribbean title for the first time,” Jerome Waite, head coach of Arnett, told The Gleaner yesterday of his team that ended runners-up last time. “This is my third stint in the CFU, and we will be looking to put the disappointment of losing the local Premier League behind,” he added. first_imgModes of TV reception in France 2008-13Over two in five French households – 40.7% – received TV via ADSL or fibre by the end of last year, according to the latest survey from media regulator the CSA. However, growth in IPTV has begun to level off, increasingly by only 0.8% in the previous six months.Digital-terrestrial TV remained the primary mode of reception for French households at the end of the fourth quarter, with 57.9% receiving a DTT signal, down from 59.7% in June. Satellite reception was stable at 25%, while cable fell by half a point to 8.4%.About three homes in 10 had more than one form of TV reception, with only one in three only receiving DTT. About one in five only received IPTV while 14.1% received a combination of IPTV and DTT.About 82.8% of French homes had a TV capable of playing HD images, while 39.5% were equipped with HD set-tops and 77.2% were equipped to receive HD via DTT.In terms of quality, French viewers reported that images more frequently froze on IPTV services, while interruptions to reception were more frequent on DTT.The number of households with smart TVs connected to the net in France dropped slightly in the course of the six months to December 2013, from 50.4% to 48.7%. However, the number of households with TVs connected via games consoles rose from 18.9% to 20.3%. Al Jazeera has partnered with Skyline Communicatio

first_imgAl Jazeera has partnered with Skyline Communications in a network management deal that will see it use Skyline’s DataMiner platform. Al Jazeera will use DataMiner as the network management and OSS platform for its new global media cloud network, allowing it to transport media and data across more than 80 offices.“Our ultimate goal is to make sure that any user of Al Jazeera who sits in any of the more than 80 global locations will feel like they are sitting in the headquarters in Doha, so they will have access to all the resources they need, be it media files, accessing the MAM, or any other broadcast or corporate IT service”, said Mohamed Abuagla, executive director of technology and operations at Al Jazeera Media Network.“The idea is to allow all these people to share information and to allow much faster newsgathering and sharing operations for Al Jazeera.”last_img read more
