He also insisted that he tries to refrain from comparing players from great players from different eras for this very reason.”Sunny [Gavaskar] would have adapted. He is a great player. If he were playing now, he would smash it all over the park. Great players adapt to whatever the scenario was,” Shane Warne told India Today Group Consulting Editor, Rajdeep Sardesai.Warne added: “The great players of any era would always adapt. That’s why they’re great. No matter what the conditions are and the style is, they would adapt. Look at Viv Richards, don’t you think he would adapt? Of course, he would.”Speaking about the change in mindset when it comes to playing attacking cricket in the modern era, Sunil Gavaskar said the modern-day cricketers are playing “attractive game”. Gavaskar also revealed he is thrilled to see a batsman playing a reverse sweep or a switch hit which were unknown to cricketers of his era.advertisement”I think it’s a very attractive game [modern-day cricket]. If you see most of the shots, they are proper cricketing shots. The only difference is they are playing lofted drives. That was our DNA, that was our upbringing, playing along the ground.
