Hyderabad were trailing 0-1 in the tie when Sindhu took the court against Zhang and her team needed her to win and bring them back level.Eventually, Sindhu lost the match 13-15, 8-15 to an extremely impressive Beiwen Zhang – this is the third time this year that Sindhu has lost to the independent player on the BWF circuit. Earlier in the year, Sindhu had lost the India Open final to Zhang in New Delhi. With Sindhu’s loss, Hyderabad trailed 0-2 in the tie against Awadhe with a men’s singles and men’s doubles match left to be played on the day.Sindhu began the game on the forefront taking it to Zhang and came out with her big strokes to catch Zhang off-guard. At the halfway break in the first game, Sindhu led Zhang 8-5. Even after the break, Sindhu took a big 12-8 but Zhang just hung in there and began to find her feet in the match.Zhang initially began with just keeping the shuttles on the court and unforced errors crept in for Sindhu who just tried to make too much happen with a bad shuttle from Zhang to work with.Zhang managed to level the proceedings in the first game at 12-12 and from there, she went on the attacking front and pegged Sindhu behind. As the Indian smashed the shuttle long, Zhang brought up two game points at 14-12. Sindhu managed to save one but in the next rally, Zhang played a beautiful cross-court net shot and despite a stretch from Sindhu, she failed to reach the shuttle. In frustration, she banged her racquet on the court and then proceded to the sidelines to smash her racquet to the box once again before picking up her bag to shift to the other side of the court.advertisementBeiwen Zhang puts up a stellar performance to win the first game. ??#VodafonePBL #HYDvAWD pic.twitter.com/qH1Yo0XnvQPBL India (@PBLIndiaLive) December 28, 2018Despite the shift, Sindhu’s fortunes did not get altered as Beiwen Zhang attacked Sindhu incessantly while the Indian was forced to play defensive. Hyderabad had placed their trump on Kim and Eom and with their 12-15, 15-9, 11-15 loss to Ashwini and Christiansen, the tie’s scores read 1(-1) in favour of Awadhe. In the second match of the day, Mark Caljouw came out all guns blazing against Lee Dong Keun and won 15-10, 7-15, 15-7 to being Hyderabad back to nil. Also Read | Premier Badminton League: Carolina Marin in awe of Indian fan’s love for herAlso Read | Screaming!
