ALL COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION ONE: ST MICHAELS IMPRESSIVE AS THEY POWER PAST ST EUNANS

first_imgSt Michaels got their league campaign back-on-track with a hugely impressive victory over league champions St Eunans at O’Donnell Park earlier this afternoon. Colm McFadden was in stunning form as St Michaels powered past the challenge of St Eunans earlier this afternoon.St Michaels recorded a comprehensive 3-15 to 1-09 victory over the Letterkenny men who struggled to cope with the lively inside forward line of Colm McFadden, Oisin Langan and Michael Langan.17 year-old Michael Langan scored 1-2 from play, and was a constant menace to the St Eunans back-line. Oisin Langan expertly dispatched his two goals and was lively throughout the game, while Colm McFadden was in irresistible form.McFadden scored some sensational points particularly in the second-half, and the St Eunans defence were helpless in their attempts to stop the 2012 All-Star.The first-half was a close affair with both sides enjoying lengthy spells of dominance.Rory Kavanagh was excellent in the first-half and scored 1-2 in the opening period, but a goal from Michael Langan ensured St Michaels led by a point at the interval. In what was an excellent opening half of football, the only contentious moment was the decision by the referee Shaun McLaughlin to award Michael Gallagher with a black card.Gallagher was adjudged to have cynically dragged down Rory Kavanagh as the Donegal star powered down on goal.It appeared that Gallagher made a genuine attempt to win the ball and correct the decision would’ve been to award the free. The decision to show Gallagher the black card angered the large following of St Michaels supporters who felt the decision was harsh and unnecessary. However, once Oisin Langan found the net ten minutes into the second-half there was no way back for St Eunans as St Michaels powered on. St Michaels had a number of impressive performers on show, with Christy Toye, Ciaran Gallagher, Antoin McFadden and Michael Cannon controlling the game from the middle sector of the pitch. For St Eunans Rory Kavanagh and Eamon Doherty performed well, but Maxi Curran will be worried by his side’s collapse in the second-half.St Michaels will be delighted with the victory and the manner of the performance, especially after losing both fixtures last weekend to Ardara and Malin respectively.ALL COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION ONE: ST MICHAELS IMPRESSIVE AS THEY POWER PAST ST EUNANS was last modified: June 8th, 2014 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:GAAnewsSportlast_img
