49ers’ Robbie Gould trying to force trade, report says

first_imgIn a turn of events, 49ers’ franchise kicker Robbie Gould has pulled his contract proposals that he sent to San Francisco and told the team he will not negotiate or sign a long-term deal with them, and he would like to be traded, Gould said Tuesday.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 23, 2019Gould has one year left on his deal paying him around $5 million this season and he had been in negotiations with the team on a long-term deal. The 49ers signed kicker Jonathan Brown to a two-year deal for depth in March, but it did not appear Gould’s job was at risk so this quick turn of events is surprising. Robbie Gould reportedly is trying to force his way out of San Francisco after negotiations appear to have broken down on a long-term deal. The veteran kicker, who went 33 for 34 on field-goal attempts for the 49ers last year, has cut off negotiations with the 49ers and has told the team he wants to be traded, he told ESPN on Tuesday. Gould has been with San Francisco for two seasons and is 72 of 75 on field-goal attempts and 55 of 59 on extra-point attempts. The 37-year-old spent the first 11 years of his career with the Bears before going to the Giants for one year and landing with San Francisco for the last two.He has made 87.7 percent of his career field goals and 97.1 percent of his extra points.last_img
