The school, which serves individuals with cognitive impairments and autism, allows students to gain critical life skills while working in the greenhouse.Principal of the school, Stacy Wentz says the program will help these students succeed down the road.“So, working in the greenhouse gives them the fulfillment of practicing employment for after they leave our program. They can practice volunteer skills and work skills so they can have opportunities after they leave us.”Beyond increasing employment skills, the program also helps students develop their social competency.“So they’re learning how to care for plants, they’re learning how to deal with money, interact with the community, practice their communication, and then also social skills.”All money received from sales will benefit the Pied Piper fund to support student activities.AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to FacebookFacebookShare to TwitterTwitterShare to MoreAddThis Tags: flower, Flowers, Mothers Day, Pied Piper School, saleContinue ReadingPrevious Gearing up for ‘Rover Ruckus’ in Alcona SaturdayNext Police respond to reports of shots fired near Decorative Panels Internationallast_img
